Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to introduce four new boosters! After a long time of being asked to, we are now selling iron, gold, emerald, and diamond blocks in the Server Shop to be bought with Dark Points.
Now, some of you may know that this is something we had been avoiding for quite some while. Our main concern was that somebody would be able to buy their way to the top of the iConomy leaderboard, but we have prepared for this. If you look to the side of the home page, you will notice a new box, this is the donor's leaderboard, and it aims to do two things: let you know who has gained their wealth through real-world money, and let you know who is keeping this server alive, so they get the recognition they deserve. So if someone were to take a credit card to buy 1200 dollars worth of diamonds and rise to the top of iConomy overnight, you'll be able to easily tell that's how he made his money, but instead of approaching said player with "you didn't earn that" you should...
There has been some misinterpretation of the post I made the other day. [Click here to read that post]
The misinterpretation being that, I was saying people couldn't share any of their opinions with the community. Not at all! We want people to share their opinions, it's the way others respond that we'd like to change.
We want to avoid public arguments altogether, as they attract many other people and end up escalating into a huge fight, where people do begin to get hurt. When somebody says something you don't like, and you can't stand to stay quiet, take it to them in PM. Being public is never going to make matters better. As I said in the last post, it doesn't matter who's right or wrong- handle every situation properly and everyone should stay happy. When opposing opinions go public, is when too many people begin to get involved and an argument snowballs out of control.
DarkCraft is at an impasse. The community is in tatters, and I'm at a loss as to what can be done to repair it. The hostility players show towards each-other on the website and in-game is overwhelming. Many players have tried reaching out, but sadly little progress has been made toward bettering the situation. If things continue to play out this way, I don't see DarkCraft lasting another month.
When I first started a Minecraft SMP server, my goal was to have a community of players that I could be proud to be a part of. A place for people of all ages and personalities to be able to come and have a good time, and create to their heart's content. We don't have that anymore, and it makes me sad. We've lost a lot of members due to failings on our end to ensure a friendly-for-all playing environment. Things will only get worse if there isn't a huge effort by everyone to send...
We now officially have a PVP arena!
To go there, type /warp pvpfield
This is the first of many arenas, and each arena will have it's own rules and abilities set to it. Each arena will be governed by it's respective owner, and he is the one who decides tournament rules and the like. This first one is boldr's football field; mob spawning is disabled, but your items will drop upon death as it stands now, so be careful.
If you have an arena that you would like zoned for PVP, just reply to this thread or send me a PM and I'll check it out.
Each arena will have the following:
A warp to it's entrance
Customizable rules (ie mob spawning, water flow, etc.)
Customizable Message upon entry and exit.
Remember to work out the battle rules before you fight so there's not "that's my stuff" arguments.
